Gary Casella
Director Sportif/Manager
Gary is a third generation cyclist who started his first race at the age of 10. In the years to come he was a prominent fixture in the New York metro cycling scene back in the mid to late 80’s, first as a Jr. and later as a young Senior rider. Gary spent time at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs as a member of the Jr. National development program. Gary's knowledge of the sport and attention to detail is what separates him from the mere rider/director.
After a long hiatus away from the sport, Gary has come full circle to the sport he loves. His formation of the elite iOmega-Orbea squad in 2004 was a step in which he wanted to develop talent and give riders the opportunity and support to reach their potential, with the guidance of his experience. iOmega-Orbea later became Team TitleOne.
After a long fruitless title sponsorship search to take the team to the next level, Gary turned the team over to friend and "road captain" Tad Hamilton who grew from that point to the 2011 UCI Pro squad- Team Exergy.
Today, Gary rides as often as he can, balancing life and family with riding and loves to race still. "There is nothing for me that feels like riding down a road, the wind in your face and the speed and feeling you have when on the bike. Add to that the adrenaline of competition and it's awesome, a rush I still love even after years of doing it. I simply love the sport and I am glad to share and give back to it as it has given me so much."
Gary also serves as board member to the safety advocacy group Look! Save a Life.
